Robyn Kravit

Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Tethys Research



Robyn S. Kravit is an international business executive with over 26 years of experience in management and venture development, especially in Far East markets.  Ms. Kravit provides advice to companies and consulting firms requiring additional Asian expertise on a project basis.  She is also the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tethys Research, a biotechnology start-up company.

Ms. Kravit began her career in international trade in 1975, and started working in China in 1976.  She has established and directed significant China-based operations engaged in the international trading of industrial raw materials, negotiating more than $1 billion in trade contracts and joint-venture agreements.  Ms. Kravit has experience in devising marketing plans that adapt to evolving political and economic environments, and has managed every aspect of foreign trade transactions. She has also established and managed profitable new business operations in the U.S. 

Ms. Kravit sits on the Board of Directors of The Willis Group (NYSE: WSH), a leading global insurance broker, handling risk management and reinsurance across a wide range of service areas and industries.  She also serves on the Advisory Council of Johns Hopkins University's Whiting School of Engineering and the Board of Governors of the Washington Foreign Law Society. In 2012, she was appointed to the Standing Advisory Group (SAG) of the Public Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), an organization established by Congress to oversee the audits of public companies to promote investor protection.

Ms. Kravit is a past President and Director of FONZ, the organization which manages commercial and educational activities for Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park and a past Treasurer of the Eisenhower Institute Ms. Kravit became an NACD (National Association of Corporate Directors) Governance Fellow in 2011 and serves on the Board of the Capital Area chapter.
