Alice Yurke is a partner at Alston & Bird, LLP and her practice covers registered and unregistered structured products, including equity, credit-, hedge fund-, and commodity-linked structures, in both the US and offshore markets. She regularly advises clients on a variety of products involving principal protection, whether static, dynamic, internal or third-party, including principal protection products relating to mutual funds.
Ms. Yurke also has an extensive background in liquidity and credit support arrangements for asset-backed commercial paper programs. She has advised numerous financial institutions in structuring financial products for hedging, arbitrage, balance sheet management and liquidity purposes in a variety of sectors. With an extensive background in bank lending before moving into the financial products arena, she advises clients as to risk-based capital and other regulatory concerns which may arise in the context of a given structure, as well as bankruptcy - and workout-related issues in derivatives and loan transactions.
Since 1993, Ms. Yurke has structured and negotiated over 400 transactions in the structured products area, in both the private and public sectors. She has also counseled clients on restructuring, workout, close out and similar concerns in over 100 derivatives and loan (syndicated and bilateral) transactions. Ms. Yurke is a member of the Structured Products Association, New York City Bar Futures & Derivatives Regulation Committee and Derivatives & Structured Products Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association Committee.
Ms. Yurke is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and contributor to legal and trade journals that cater to finance professionals. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and obtained her J.D. from Columbia Law School in New York City, New York; and is admitted to the New York Bar.
